The Porta Praenestina (now the Porta Maggiore) was built by Claudius to carry the Aqua Claudius and the Aqua Anio Novus over two of the arterial roads of Rome, the Via Labicana and the Via Praenestina. The structure was later incorporated into the Aurelian Wall, visible to the right of it.
