Isis The cult of the Egyptian goddess Isis attracted a large number of followers in Rome and elsewhere in the empire. Her worship was characterized by very elaborate rituals. Isis was the wife of Osiris and the mother of the sun god Horus Here she is portrayed in her guise as Greek goddess Demeter with whom she was widely identified by the Romans.
