The Roman Empire
at its largest extent - AD 116

Africa

Roman victory in the Third Punic War in 146 BC brought about the conquest of Carthage and much of its north African territory. Most of this territory was annexed into the new province of Africa. If at first the Libyan dominions of Carthage were not incorporated into the province, they were annexed at a later stage.
